A big thank you goes out to everyone who helped out with promoting handball to the HISD district. As a club we continue to steer clear of selfish behaviors. We continue to promote team handball to those representing the future of our sport. We will once again be featured on two local sports shows. Check your emails for details.
The cadets from West Point Team Handball Club, will be in Houston in late September. They requested to scrimmage the Houston Stars. Based on your feedback, it appars that we will be able to host them for a mini weekend tournament. Stay tuned for that.
Stay fit over the summer and keep cool.
I will follow up with details from the 1st ever Team Handball meeting to be held in St. Louis, Missouri this coming weekend. It will be a wonderful opportunity for all handball volunteers to finally come together and move forward as one. The future is now!

Ludo reaches the Southermost City in the World!
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
Our friend and teammate, Ludo, just finished his amazing trek across the American continent.
If you forgot, it all started last year. Jogging from Houston all the way to Ushuaia (the southernmost city in the world), his quest sounded like something out of a Forest Gump movie. It was not.
Along the way, Ludo kept a daily blog (filled with breathtaking photos) of his amazing and daring journey ( link)
Welcome home Ludo... Congratulations.

I know that some of you are eager to find out the outcome of the long and drawn out Team Handball NGB certification process.
What started in the Fall of 2007, is creeping to some type of conclusion. A recent post on the THN forums, (something that THN could not confirm or deny, despite the many attempts to contact the USOC and the original poster...) stated that the UTHF (Utah Team Handball Foundation) was named the new NGB.
While that may very well be the case, nothing has been announced officially. With the USOC Board meeting scheduled for the 22nd of Febuary, many expect an announcement shorly therafter.
This means one more week of waiting for those of you who still care about the future of team handball in the US.
For now, I hope all of you had a great Valentine's Day.

The Shooting Stars, under the guidance of coach Nathalie Dorner, went undefeated at West Point.
Earlier today (Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008) the Shooting Stars defeated Cortland for the second time in as many days. 12 : 9.
Congratulations to the Shooting Stars for bringing home another gold medal from a tournament that was well organized despite the short notice.
Check out photos from the tournament here and here and here.

Stars get 3rd in Miami. Shooting Stars set rosters for West Point.

As the men returned with the bronze from Miami, the lady Shooting Stars are set to do battle in West Point this coming weekend.
Miami was awesome. The Stars (and US Resident players) - Filip, Marjanovich, Morar, Larion, Vance, Pham, Moore, Pufulete, Radzic, Vilusceac and Pasat - brought home the bronze medal. Sharks won gold, West Point placed second and Miami's Remix team (think Stars Too on steroids) placed fourth. Many thanks are in order: Coach Zaharia, John Eckart, FIU.. and of course IAMSPORT.ORG and LIVESPORTSVIDEO.COM who provided the web cast coverage.
The Shooting Stars are next. Coach and backup goalie wannabe Nathalie Dorner, has assambled a powerful team for this weekend's West Point Women's Tournament. Here is the roster:
2. Eva Freyschmidt, 3. Helen Sundqvist, 4.Sophie Gebel, 5. Sandra Langelaar, 6. Astrid Rivas-Seime, 7. Monika Nowak, 8. Sonja Hansen, 10. Gosia Szubelak, 11. Jelena Vladicic, 14. Julie Bellmare, 17. Georgiane Clemente, 19. Danica Saalbach, Goalies: 1. Ivana Milojkovic, 12. Nathalie Dorner, 16. Erika Vetter
